1、A STRONG PRESENCEUNITED FIRE GROUP ANNUAL REPORT 2009ONWARD AND UPWARDUnited Fire Group has not only recovered from the Flood of 2008 that submerged our corporate headquarters in nearly eight feet of water,weve moved onward and upwardliterally.In 2009,we completed renovation of a newly purchased two

2、-story offi ce building in downtown Cedar Rapids.This building had previously been leased by our company to accommodate our workforce.We also completed construction of a three-level,83,700-square-foot parkade for our employees,accommodating approximately 250 vehicles.A second-fl oor skywalk connects

3、 the parkade to our main building.And,for the fi rst time in our history,we are now responsible for our own heat at our corporate headquarters.In years past,our buildings and much of downtown Cedar Rapids had been heated by a 117-year-old steam system that was damaged beyond repair in the fl ood.In

4、2009,we decided to invest in our own heat source,installing fi ve new,energy-effi cient boilers,which were all up and running before any major snow fl ew.To us,these projects symbolize the continued strength and stability of United Fire Group,as well as our renewed commitment to the city of Cedar Ra
