Djibouti, located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa, is a key player in global trade. It gained independence in 1977 and has an area of 23,200 km² with an estimated population of approximately 1,000,000. The country's political stability promotes a secure environment for both residential living and business prosperity. Its strategic location is marked by being the world's first road connecting Africa, Asia, and Europe, and it holds the second busiest maritime road globally. Djibouti hosts military bases for multiple countries, including China, France, Italy, the United States, and NATO. The Djibouti Maritime Port (DMP) mission is to facilitate global trade and ensure efficient operations, providing reliable and cost-effective handling services. Its values revolve around integrity, commitment, profitable growth, responsible behavior, and excellence. The port serves as a significant hub in Sino-Africa sea and air express networks, consolidating shipments from 53 cities across 36 countries. The coverage duration from Chinese ports to the destination airport is 20-22 days. Djibouti's state-of-the-art infrastructures, constructed by Chinese state construction companies, include railway connections to Ethiopia and beyond. The DMP records achievements like handling 22,100 M/T of bulk in 24 hours, 100 containers in 3 hours at the railway terminal, and 7,000 M/T/Day/Vessel at the break bulk terminal. The country is also a key player in the Africa Maritime Facades, COMESA, and AGOA initiatives, working towards abolishing tariff and non-tariff barriers and facilitating free circulation of goods and services. Djibouti aims to improve hinterland connectivity, reduce customer costs and transit time, and decrease CO2 emissions through a multi-modal logistics chain. It is also home to the World Food Programme's (WFP) fifth regional humanitarian logistics hub since 2013. The hub covers 40,000 sqm of land, includes a 40,000-ton silo bulk grain, two 25,000-tonne food warehouses, and a 2500 sqm warehouse for non-food items. Furthermore, Djibouti Harbour Regeneration (DHR) involves the development of palaces, hotels, a cruise terminal, shopping center, business center, and marina, contributing to the country's economic growth and tourism potential.
