2、lity of Recife to the impacts of climate change,as exemplified by the extreme event in May 2022,where heavy rains resulted in devastating landslides and floods,efforts to strengthen the citys resilience have been intensifying.For example,technical cooperation with the Embassy of the Netherlands and
3、obtaining a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank(IDB)to finance our Urban Requalification and Resilience Program in Socio-environmental Vulnerability Areas,the ProMorar Recife.As part of ProMorar Recife,a study on the macro-drainage of the Tejipi River Basin is being developed,the area most
4、 prone to flooding in the city.Within the scope of this study,a hydrological-hydraulic model has been developed,with an emphasis on potential solutions that can be implemented in the area over the next 6 years as part of the Program.Additionally,in February 2023,we hosted the Dutch Risk Reduction Te
5、am(DRR Team)to conduct an initial study on the impacts of sea-level rise on our drainage system.In this regard,the Recife Hackathon was organized,which took place in November 2023,bringing together experts from Brazil and the Netherlands with a focus on climate change,drainage,urban planning,and wat
6、er resources.The Hackathon aimed to increase understanding of the system,identify vulnerabilities,solutions,and adaptation measures in response to weather events,climate change,and urban planning for the Tejipi River Basin macro-drainage system.The time frame of the Hackathon was the expected change
