4、hnology,reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)has become a potential enabling technology of 6G mobile networks to be studied in 3GPP starting from June 2025.One important aspect of technology study in 3GPP is the performance evaluation where channel models and simulation methodologies are the funda
5、mental blocks to be agreed upon.Different from active nodes such as low power nodes,or from sensing objects,RIS devices are quasi-passive,e.g.,without power amplifiers or active filters,but with regular shapes and smooth surfaces.All these mean that the channel modeling and simulation methodology us
6、ed for traditional mobile networks or for integrated sensing and communications cannot be directly used by RIS.The whitepaper is devoted to the channel modeling and simulation methodology for RIS study,with the purpose of setting a baseline for the performance evaluation of RIS in 3GPP 6G study next
