Ireland's 6G Research Centre, also known as the CONNECT Centre, is dedicated to creating sustainable and dependable networks that promote innovation in services and customer experience, empower citizens, and enhance quality of life. Since its establishment in 2015, the Centre has been active in research, with 12 higher education institutions and research centers across Ireland, resulting in 2529 scientific papers and books published, and 641 conferences, seminars, and workshops organized. Key highlights of the CONNECT Centre's research include 253 invention disclosures, 41 IP licenses, 12 IP assignments, and 84 filed patents. It has also been successful in commercialization, with 43 EICommercialisation Fund projects won, 11 spin-out companies created, and 4 new international telecommunications standards established. The Centre's impact and innovation are further seen in various areas such as dependable networks, sustainable IoT, AI-driven network customization, and network ecologies. It is also involved in local government, SMEs, multinationals, and other sectors like smart cities, cybersecurity, and autonomous vehicles. With the new SLICES-RIComReg 100MHz spectrum license and the existing 3.6 GHz and 3.8-4.2 GHz bands, the CONNECT Centre is set to further its research in 5G and beyond, utilizing AI and real-world data to solve complex network interference optimization problems.
