3、ns on transmitter noise within the IEEE P802.3dj project addressing 200 Gb/s PAM 4 per lane.Transmitter measurements for 200 Gb/s PAM4 ethernet require measurement acquisitions at observable locations called test points.One such parameter is the transmitter signal to noise and distortion ratio(SNDR)

4、.This paper begins with the details of SNDR,how it is measured,and why its usage is at a virtual location which is not at the test point.Aside from a transmitter interoperability specification,SNDR is used to determine the channel operating margin(COM).Critical to the concept of SNDR is the concept

5、of reducing all noise and distortion to a simple broad band Gaussian noise model.This paper will test this assumption with measurements which inject filtered(spectrally colored)noise and observing the effect on SNDR and other performance parameters such as VEC(vertical eye closure).Methods which adj
