随着 Ni 含量增高,热稳定性变差。根据《高镍三元正极材料失效机制与改性》介绍,材料的热稳定性能与其安全性能密切相关,高镍正极材料在充放电过程中会产生一部分Ni4+,而高价态 Ni4+具有很强的氧化性,可以氧化电解液中的成分,产生一系列的副反应和 Ni4+→Ni3+或 Ni2+的还原反应,为了补偿 Ni价态变化中电荷的损失,O2-会以氧气形式进行释放。因此,相比低镍正极材料,高镍材料会脱出更多的Li+,生成更多强氧化性的高价态 Ni4+,造成电池热稳定性能下降。此外,该材料不仅只有过渡金属元素在充放电过程中参与氧化还原反应,而且晶格中的负氧离子也参与电化学反应,在长期循环过程中易产生氧气,可能会与电解质发生反应,从而使它们具有极为复杂的电荷补偿及结构老化失效机制,导致结构和成分的快速失效,甚至引发电池热失控。同时,该类材料在电化学循环过程中易出现不断的电压衰减情况,导致其能量密度持续下降,严重制约大规模应用。
